lyrics
Well, "How could this happen?"
you'll find yourself asking.
"How could it be, someone
has so violated me?"
Well, you'll wake up in the morning,
you'll feign a smile,
you'll go to work,
and,
you'll forget it,
for a while......
It's just one of those things, darlin',
that makes you grow.
It's just one of those times
that we must understand:
There are so many things
we do not know,
but, we keep on moving:
one foot in front of the other,
and we keep on going:
knowing that we're growing
into a stronger place.
So, when I was seven,
I knew this Charlie,
he was a trusted friend
of the whole family,
and I wasn't sure how
to tell him I didn't
like that way
that he kept touching me
behind the house.....
and, it kept happening,
until I was eleven,
Charlie had appreciated
how I was growing....
and...he took us to the creek,
and, while the boys were swimming....
he knew out there, there wasn't even
a chance for screaming....
But, you'll bet,
this time, darlin',
I turned him in,
and he left behind
his presence for science,
and there is just one thing
he didn't understand,
is that I keep on moving:
one foot in front of the other,
and I keep on going:
knowing that I'm growing
into a stronger place.
